MBISS GCH VERTERRA GENESIS AOM
"Genna"

Words simply cannot express how much this dog means to me. After a lifelong love affair with dogs, I finally got into Collies and showing them around 2016. I would spend the next several years voraciously studying, learning everything I possibly could from many of the best mentors in the breed. I studied the standard regularly and curated my mind's eye to the written word carefully. I had dogs that didn't align with my vision that I had to give back to their breeders. That was truly some of the most difficult things Iv'e had to do in my life, but I believe they lead me to the path I am on today. I bred my first litter at the end of 2023, and in her own magical way, Genna came into my world in February of 2024. Marked with the head of a unicorn on the back of her neck, Genna stood out from the beginning. I hadn't intended on keeping anything from my first breeding unless I truly had to, and Genna just kept checking off all the boxes. She was smart, sassy, and a great mover with a sweet expression. She came into my life at a time of unprecedented change and went everywhere with me from then on. She went to her first horse show at 10 weeks and never looked back. Looking forward to the dog show ring as she approached 6 months, I took her to handling class one day where she was attacked by an adult male Rottweiler who escaped its owner's grip. We went straight to the emergency vet where they cared for the two puncture wounds on her hip. Once I knew she was physically going to be ok, I began to mourn the loss of my hopes and dreams of her show career. She was actually attacked a second time not long after by another large dog. I was sure we were done then. But after taking our time and focusing on fun, Genna finally hit the show ring as my first bred by and she shined! She was so incredibly resilient, I am grateful to this day, for many other dogs in that same scenario may never have shown after that. At her very first all breed show, Genna won the herding group at the prestigious Kentuckiana Cluster and handled it with ease. Genna finished with very little showing, with all majors, going BOV over specials to secure her AKC Championship in October of 2025. She swept BOV all 6 shows of the 4 day cluster and also garnered her first Best of Breed and her first group placement. She showed at the TX Specialties where she garnered her second Best of Breed and first CCA Lovin' Cup among several other beautiful memorial trophies. She finished her GCH that weekend as well. in preparation for the CCA National we entered a cluster in Kansas City where Genna was Owner Handled Group 1, G2, and G1 the three times she entered the ring. At the 2026 CCA National in Tulsa, OK both Genna and her mother, Marlow, made the first cut. That alone was incredibly special to me as I had never placed or made a cut at the National before. Genna kept advancing and ended up with an Award of Merit! It was such an honor to be standing in that final group of dogs with my very first bred-by. To be recognized and respected by those you look up to and hold in high regard is truly the ultimate prize. I feel so incredibly blessed to have a dog like Genna, she is truly the dog of a lifetime and the dog I got into the breed for. She encompasses all the wonderful traits this breed has to offer, both mentally and physically. We look forward to what the future has in store for our special girl.
